QR Check-in
DropIn's QR check-in system prevents fraud while keeping the experience seamless for attendees.
How It Works
1. Organizer displays QR code on a screen at the venue
2. QR code rotates every 30 seconds with a new session token
3. Attendees scan with their phone camera
4. DropIn page loads, attendee connects wallet and checks in
Anti-Fraud Protection
Rotating QR Codes
The QR code changes every 30 seconds. If someone screenshots and shares it:
• The code expires before it can spread
• Claimers get an "expired" error
• Only people physically present can check in
One Wallet Per Event
• Each wallet can only check in once per event
• Duplicate attempts are automatically blocked
• Prevents sybil attacks
Token Validation
• Each QR contains a cryptographic session token
• Tokens are validated server-side
• Prevents replay attacks
For Organizers
Displaying the QR
• Use a large screen (TV, projector) visible to all attendees
• Ensure good lighting for easy scanning
• The QR auto-refreshes - no manual action needed
Monitoring Check-ins
Your dashboard shows:
• Total check-ins in real-time
• Individual wallet addresses
• Check-in timestamps
For Attendees
Scanning Tips
• Use your native camera app - no special app needed
• Hold steady for 1-2 seconds
• If it doesn't work, try moving closer or adjusting angle
• Make sure you're scanning the current QR (it changes every 30s)
